Pulsed Laser Deposition and Epitaxy

چکیده

Laser is a powerful tool in many applications. It is especially useful in material processing. Thanks to it's narrow frequency bandwidth, coherence and high power density this instrument is used in many scientific research works and experiments. Often the light beam is intense enough to vaporize the hardest and most heat resistant materials. Besides, due to its high precision, reliability and spatial resolution, it is widely used in material processing industry. For example: machining of the thin film, modification of materials, heat treatment, welding and micro-patterning. Apart from these, polycomponent materials can be ablated and deposited onto substrate to form stoichiometric thin films. This Procedure is called Pulsed Laser Deposition (PLD).

Layer-by-layer Pattern Propagtion and Pulsed Laser Deposition

In this article kinetic Monte Carlo simulations for molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) and pulsed laser depositon (PLD) are compared. It will be shown that an optimal pattern conservation during MBE is achieved for a specific ratio of diffusion to deposition rate. Further on pulsed laser deposition is presented as an alternative way to control layer by layer growth. First results concerning the islan...

Monte Carlo simulations of epitaxial growth: comparison of pulsed laser deposition and molecular beam epitaxy

The influence of epitaxial growth method on surface morphology was explored using a solid-on-solid, rate equation, Ž . Ž . Monte Carlo simulation whose parameters were chosen to approximate 1=1 Si 001 . In simulations corresponding to molecular beam epitaxy, films of 10 monolayer thickness were deposited with a steady-state flux of 0.25 monolayersrs and an adatom energy of 0.3 eV. In simulation...

Layer-by-layer Growth for Pulsed Laser Deposition

Pulsed laser deposition (PLD) is a popular growth method, which has been successfully used for fabricating thin films. Compared to continuous deposition (like molecular beam epitaxy) the pulse intensity can be used as an additional parameter for tuning the growth behavior, so that under certain circumstances PLD improves layer-by-layer growth. We present kinetic Monte-Carlo simulations for PLD ...

Anisotropic strains, metal-insulator transition, and magnetoresistance of La0.7Ca0.3MnO3 films

Thin films of perovskite manganite La0.7Ca0.3MnO3 were grown epitaxially on various substrates by either the pulsed laser deposition method or laser molecular beam epitaxy. The substrates change both the volume and symmetry of the unit cell of the films. It is revealed that the symmetry as well as the volume of the unit cell have strong influence on the metal-insulator transition temperature an...
